Thursday, August 28, 2008 9:54 AM 54 degrees, clear skies, light frost on rooftops overnight. Traffic in town is much lighter now, but this weekend will probably be busy, and so will the end of September, when the aspen leaves peak in color. But mostly we have a number of peaceful weeks before <gasp> ski season begins again in November. |

August 27th: At this time of the year, probably the least scenic
in my opinion, you can tell where the big snowfields sit prior to melting...just
look for
bare areas within the green vegetation of the tundra. Sometimes you can even
see where the meltwater flows down the mountainside.

High
Country Aerie is a "hobby" site, done just for the fun of it,
with
no commercial interests or sponsorships. If you liked this site,
you'll probably
like the Rocky Mountain
Scenery site and the SGR
site.
They are hobby sites as well, with some wonderful photography.
Highly recommended.
